Institute of Children's Literature
![]() In addition to my writing projects, I'm also a writing instructor with the Institute of Children's Literature (ICL). For more than 35 years, the Institute has created a forum where people interested in entering the world of children's literature can be matched with professional children's authors through a variety of correspondent writing courses. Although the Institute is located in West Redding, CT, instructors and students alike are located all over the world. The courses are professional, flexible, and challenging. Many students take the courses for college credit. Since I've been an instructor at the Institute, I've helped hundreds of students explore the fascinating world of writing for children. As a former student, I understand students' doubts, the importance of encouragement, and how students can improve their writing by taking each lesson step by step and focusing on each writing element. To learn more about The Institute of Children's Literature or to request me as an instructor, visit their website at http://www.institutechildrenslit.com. "I love this course. I keep telling everyone how much I've learned so far. It has helped me immensely toward reaching my writing goals. Thank you again for your continuous expert advice and help." - Rachelle. "I'm proud of my progress so far in this program. I am learning so much . . . One thing I know for sure is that the college credits offered at the completition of this course are a top priority. Thank you for all your help so far, Mrs. Mortensen. I appreciate everything that you do." - April "I'll start off with writing how completely satisfied I am with this course and with you. It was exactly what I had been looking for in a school but was never able to get. Thank you for all you have done to encourage me and to constructively criticize my writing. I appreciate it more than I can tell you." - Linda. ![]() |
