Welcome to my
website!

It's the only place that the cats can't scratch, the kids can't
clutter, and
where the books never need dusting. How great is that? But more
importantly, it's a place where you're invited to sit down, put up your
feet,
and learn more about my world and the books I write.
I love reading and writing. When I'm not shuttling my teens around or
escorting my cats in or out, I'm usually at my computer plunking away
at my latest project. The result of all of this writing has been
selling over a hundred fiction and nonfiction manuscripts
to book and magazine publishers.
Magazine credits include Highlights
for Children, Ladybug, The Friend, KNOW, Wild Outdoor World, and
many others. Book publishers include Picture
Window Books, Stone Arch Books, KidHaven Press, and projects for Trillium Press for a
variety of educational publishers. I'm especially pleased about my
recent sales to Tricycle Press and Clarion with publication dates in 2010.
Recent projects include early readers, biographies, nonfiction
on all
sorts of subjects, poems, and puzzles. When I write fiction, I create
new worlds peopled by
characters I create. After plunging the main character into trouble,
I've got to find a way to get him or her out. When I write nonfiction,
I feel as if I'm on a treasure hunt. I never know what exciting bits of
information I'll uncover that will stir my imagination--and the
imaginations of my readers. Click on links to learn
